When we started on our journey to build our family through adoption our intent was to build our family by one (or two) ... In actuality, our family has grown by at least 101. We have found these friendships in different places - people we have met along the way with common experiences, people we met in our children's country of birth when we travelled, and the people we have met through our adoption support network. The relationships ourselves and our children have made are invaluable ... As we make our way through each different stage, these are the people who are going to go through similar experiences, the ones we can rely on to have a true understanding of the complexities of our story. As our children grow, they are going to have friends who's families look the same as theirs, have similar questions as themselves, and will always share their country of birth. We are fortunate to have this type of support system that is far reaching on many levels.
